George Siopis
George has always been very passionate about Health and Fitness and a strong advocate for leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
He is a multiple award-winner Molecular Biologist, Biochemist, Neuroscientist, Clinical Dietitian, Nutritionist, Greek Special Forces Alumni, Classical Guitarist, Harmony Instructor and Australian Powerlifting record holder.
Professional Background and Experience
He has provided his consulting services to a range of clients, from corporate people to elite level athletes. He is known for setting clear goals with the clients and for delivering best results. His athletes have been invited to represent their countries at international level and have broken numerous national records in their disciplines. His clinical experience spans conditions including metabolic disorders, diabetes, heart disease and cancer as well as parenteral feeding and ICU patients.
In 2012 he founded NutriGenius®, a leading Nutrition and Fitness Consulting company, providing cutting edge solutions to Dietitians, Fitness professionals and the public. George has developed a great interest in the use of novel technologies, such as smartphones and tablets. In 2013, he published a review on the effectiveness of weight loss programs that incorporate text messaging. The review, published in the prestigious Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, showed very promising results for this communication medium to provide a solution for fighting the long-standing obesity pandemic.

George has offered his consulting services to several companies, including conducting evaluations of workplace health programs, analyzing health outcome results and return-on-investment data as well as providing practical tips on how to improve workplace canteen label systems to increase the sales of healthy items. In addition he has consulted businesses on business model development, restructuring, rebranding and marketing strategy.
Athletic Achievements and Awards
His passion for sports was established very early, and led him gain several medals in both individual and team sports. George embraced the sport of Powerlifting, and within five months of competing in this sport he managed to set eleven national records in Australia. In November 2014 George was invited to represent Australia at the GPA World Powerlifting Championship, where he won a gold medal in his weight class as well as the overall Raw Submasters division.

Serving the Community
George has worked as a professional lifeguard, as well as a lifeguard instructor, having trained several of the leading lifeguards in his home country. He is also an alumni of the Greek Special Forces Unit (Rank: Commando); as part of the mandatory military service in Greece.
Languages and Cultural Background
Coming from a country with a long history and cultural exchange with its neighbours, George enjoys international communities and delving into new cultures to appreciate further the differences and commonalities of human societies and to gain a deep understanding into the mechanisms of trade and those that drive globalisation. He speaks Greek and Enlgish fluently and can converse in Spanish and French. He has also taken lessons in Dutch and Polish and enjoyes learning languages as part of understanding different cultures.Science Background and Awards
His ever increasing hunger for knowledge as well as his curious nature, prompted him to study and delve in diverse fields, ranging from Science to Arts. George completed a Bachelor in Science majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry as well as an Honours in Neuroscience at the University of Surrey in the UK, being awarded the highest overall mark in the department, as well as receiving several prizes and scholarships during his course, including the very competitive Gorton Hartman Prize for "Excellence" and the Biochemistry Founder's Prize for "Written Exposition". His research to dissect the mechanism of the biological clock resulted in the award of the GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Prize for the "Best Biochemistry Project".

George has also pursued research at the University of Cambridge in the UK and UNSW in Australia, supported by the very competitive Medical Research Council and Laboratory of Molecular Biology scholarships. Delving in the field of Virology, Structural Biology and Biophysics and working alongside Nobel Laureates at so called "Nobel-prize-factory", the MRC-LMB in Cambridge-UK, greatly shaped his way of thinking and his approach for solving problems. He also received the Inaugural Miltenyi Biotec Award to conduct research in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. This research provided him with insight in the potential of stem cell solutions to treat muscular dystrophies and other neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson's disease. George has been invited to present in prestigious conferences in the United States and Europe.

Music Background and Awards
In addition to his interest in Science, George has also completed studies in music, including a classical guitar degree under the supervision of the world famous guitar duo of Evangelos and Liza, and a degree in Harmony at the National Conservatory of Greece. He attained his Guitar degree in only five years (seven years less than the conservatory's curriculum), setting yet another national record. He has composed music for classical guitar as well as for piano and small orchestra.
Philosophy of Life
Being fortunate to spend his childhood in a place that sees the sun for more than 300 days a year, George particularly enjoys outdoors' activities and sports. George embraces the physical activity guidelines recommended by the Department of Health and Ageing. He particularly believes in the positive post-workout feeling, mediated by the release of endorphins; and thus encourages his clients to be as active as they can, to be happy. Being a rock-climber and mountaineer, he particularly enjoys ascending slopes and rocks.
George throughout his life has been an overachiever and an outperformer. He has topped his University classes, received numerous scholarships, awards and prizes. He has achieved all these due to his never-ending goal setting, the strong commitment to his goals, the effective planning and his hard-working nature. George has never just attained his goals; He has always surpassed them. And believes that everyone can do this.
He strongly believes in cherishing every single moment of life, for it is unique. George is a strong advocate of living life to the fullest.
